Qantas is taking an active role in addressing environmental issues that arise in the course of our business. One of these initiatives is the establishment of the Environment & Fuel Conservation Group which is tasked with continuing to integrate responsible environmentaal practices into our operations
Through the Qantas Group’s Environment Policy we are working proactively in developing and maintaining systems that help identify and manage significant environmental impacts and risk. We are integrating these environmental considerations into planning and operational activities across the Qantas Group, minimising waste and improving our resource efficiency.
The Environment & Fuel Conservation team’s work includes:
- Implementing Group-wide programs to improve environmental performance
- Devising and implementing strategies to improve the fuel efficiency and reduce the emissions footprint of Group aircraft operations
- Devising and implementing strategies that improve the energy and water efficiency of Group facilities and reduce waste
- Providing advice on the design of new facilities to ensure consideration is given to meeting new energy efficiency standards
- Implementing management systems that minimise environmental risk and encourage continual improvement in environmental performance
- Liaising with key stakeholders including State and Federal Government agencies, the community and business partners on environmental issues
- Measuring and reporting on the environmental performance of the Qantas Group
